What is similar about the items in this campaign — what tells us that they are all part of the same campaign...

What is similar about the items in this campaign is that in each one there is the trademark (avatar sign) so we that these campaigns are about the same film.

The items that have been used in the campaign...

The items that have been used in the campaign are that there are lots of television adverts for the film, in the cinema and on the TV, its being advertised in all the newspapers and in the cinema there are small billboards and leaflets about the film.

The overall strategy for communicating that message...

The overall strategy used is more of a surprise and persuasion by reviewers rating and talking about the movie.

What message the campaign is trying to communicate

I think the message the campaign is trying to communicate is that it is one of the most amazing films ever made, it seems that because in the media we hear about how many years it took to make, the special effects that have been used and the amount of money it took to make, that we automatically think that it is one of the most amazing films ever made and that we have to see it. I think that because it cost all that money to make, they are trying to build up the hype for this film, so more and more people will pay to go and see the film, and make the film successful and to get back the money that they had spent to make the film in the first place.

Were you were affected by it in any way?

The way in which this affected me was that when I first saw the trailer, I was really drawn into it; it really did make me want to see the film and it did look amazing because of the special effects used, but because the film is in 3D it is also quite unusual, there aren’t many films out at the moment with 3D and special effects, Which made me want to see it more because its something different.

Where you have come across it?

I came across this film in the cinema, I was actually there to watch another film but before that had started they were showing lots of different film trailers for films that were coming to the cinema. The 1st and longest trailer that came on was for the film Avatar, it seemed really interesting and to be honest it looked quite amazing, with all the special affects and the footage, it made me want to see it. However, before I had got into the screen to see the film I went to go and see, the were cardboard life size images of the characters for the film avatar, which caught my eye but I didn’t really think much of it at the time until I saw the trailer for the film.

What you think is the point behind the Avatar marketing is?

I think the point behind the avatar marketing is to advertise the films special effects it has in all its different forms that is has throughout the actual film so us as the public can see that this film looks really expensive to have been made and will think because of all the publicity and what we have heard and read about it, that we will think that it looks amazing and will want to see it straight away when it comes out in the cinema. The way in which that we have been told that it has taken near enough 15 years to make, we automatically assume it will be one of the most amazing films to have ever been made or out at the moment. Also the fact that it is in 3D will make the idea of watching this film even more exciting and will make people want to see it. We are also told in the media that the budget of the film to be made reached $500 million dollars which makes it seem to us that it has all the latest and best technology used so we think that our expectations of the film wont be let down.
